We are looking for individuals who have a passion for the environment and gardening to work in a community-run native nursery. There is potential to work in either Lagoon Creek Community Nursery situated close to Lagoon Creek Environmental Reserve, and CREEC Nursery situated near Burpengary Creek Environmental reserve. These organisations rely heavily on the contribution of community members to help us maintain and build up the biodiversity of our natural area.
You could help us in our nursery operations by assisting in either tasks (all of which you will receive guidance and training on if required)
- Seed collecting native species and seed prep for propagation
- Propagation, transplanting, division, cuttings and stock maintenance
- Pot washing and sanitising (We reuse all our pots and we have a pot donation program)
-Weeding
-Labelling, Plant identification, Cultural plant knowledge, flora and fauna ecology
-Organising retail stock
-Event management and participation in market stalls
-People who would like to hold environmental/ gardening or natural resource workshops
Both of these community nurseries supply provenance native plants to help support natural area and habitat restoration for nearby reserves.
Both these respective reserves - Burpengary Creek and Lagoon Creek have areas as Koala habitat  (with irregular sightings) and have threatened flora fauna  and regional ecosystems present. Notably one site has endengered lowland subtropical rainforest with a large diversity of species.
Our goal within the community is to propagate to preserve these species and have more species to be planted to restore these ecosystems and support the plethora of life forms dependant on these systems.
